ISLANDS

Until you experience it firsthand it’s hard to imagine just how “away from it all” you and your group will feel after a short boat ride to one of the Lake Erie islands. Most of the two dozen islands that make up the Bass Island region of Lake Erie are privately owned and undeveloped. However, the islands located in the heart of the Lake Erie Shores and Islands® offer opportunities to please every age and taste. Islands available for group visits are Kelleys, Middle Bass and South Bass – home to the village of Put-in-Bay.

The excitement begins as soon as you leave shore on one of the many ferry boats that provide transportation for passengers and vehicles. As you arrive at your chosen island, you’ll find the preferred methods of travel being golf carts, bicycles and scooters. There are also options for larger vehicles should you want to keep your group all together. Each island has venues suitable for group functions.

Leisure activities include historical sites, arcades, kayaking, golf, natural areas, wineries, shopping, boating, waterfront dining or just plain relaxing. As the sun begins to set, you’ll find the downtown areas lighting up with a wide range of live entertainment.
